He lived a life defined by curiosity, kindness, and deep love for his family. A mechanical engineer and proud UCLA graduate, he served his country as an Air Force veteran and went on to become an entrepreneur, always driven by a desire to build, understand, and improve the world around him. His lifelong passions for aviation, science, and philosophy reflected a mind that never stopped wondering—and a spirit that never stopped learning.
Above all else, he was a devoted father to Alex Perez and Sandy Sterling, and a cherished grandfather to Brayden, Lucia, Alexa, and Luca Sterling. He delighted in his family and took great pride in each of them, offering wisdom, laughter, and unwavering support.
He was married for 56 years to the love of his life, Esperanza Correa Perez, until her passing in 2018. Their bond was the foundation of his life, and her memory remained close to his heart.
Known for his warmth and generous spirit, he had a rare gift for making everyone he met feel welcomed and valued. With his quick wit and gentle humor, he brought lightness and joy into everyday moments.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his intellect, compassion, and fun loving personality.
