She was predeceased by her husband of 31 years; Lt. Col. Robert Royal Martin. They have six children.
She was survived by her children Dana Ross Martin of Austin, Texas; Nina Lynn Ostrander and husband David of La Grange, Texas; Brook Alan Martin of Phoenix, Arizona; Gary Scot Martin of Wichita Falls, Texas; Kelly Bryan Martin and wife Monica of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Glen Evan Martin and wife Melissa of Collinsville, Illinois. Helen also has 7 grandchildren.
Helen Martin was a member of Saint David's Episcopal Church in Austin, Texas, a lifelong educator, and a volunteer at Next to New.
She will be interred at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
