

CMSGT HORACE LAFELLE CAREY (Ret.) 1931 to 2006 Horace LaFelle Carey was born to Robert Lynford and Lorna Grace (Huitt) Carey on August 14, 1931 in Altus, Oklahoma. He graduated from Altus High School in 1950 and immediately entered the Air Force, serving 28 1/2 years. He served during the Korean and Vietnam wars, earning many awards and decorations. He retired as Chief Master Sergeant in 1978. LaFelle earned two college degrees, one from Central Texas College in education and a BA in Management from Park College. He also graduated from USAF Air University / Senior NCO Academy as an honor student. He met Dorothy Dubberly in Wichita Falls, Texas and they were married on October 5, 1957. LaFelle was a member of The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Woodmen of the World. He was an active member of the Hyde Park Church of Christ. LaFelle is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Phillip Alan Carey and wife Brenda of Austin, Texas and Lloyd Eugene Carey and wife Bernie and grandson, Justin Hunter Carey of Manchaca, Texas; one sister, Joyce Schlecht of Madill, Oklahoma; and three nieces. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, December 28th, at Bluegrove Cemetery in Bluegrove, Texas.
