Howard Lavelle Bounds

He was born in Lampasas, Texas, before moving to Austin as a child. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea. Upon returning home, he married his wife, Bonnie. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service and the family business, Johnnies TV Rental.

Howard and Bonnie loved to travel the country square dancing for over 30 years. They held local and state officer positions. He was a member of Central Christian Church for 61 years. He served as a deacon and was the first person who greeted you as you arrived for services.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 55 years, Bonnie; children, Kim Merrill, Tom Bounds and Brad Bounds and wife, Heidi, all of Austin; two grandsons, Brandon Bounds and wife, Britny of Richmond and Corey Bounds of Austin.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 12, 2010 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made in honor of Howard to Central Christian Church Restoration Fund, 1110 Guadalupe Street, Austin, Texas 78701.
