Ira grew up in Levelland, TX and graduated from Texas Tech in 1939 and received his Masters from George Washington U in 1950. He retired as a Major in the USMCR. Ira worked with the Comptroller of the Air Force at the Department of Defense for 33 years. He was a Professor at George Washington U for 10 years and a Professor at George Mason U for 10 years.
Ira leaves his wife, Pat of 64 years; a son Jeffrey (Kathy) Steele of Boise, ID; two grandchildren, Amy and Matthew of Seattle, WA; a daughter, Barbara (David) Viskochil and grandson Joseph of Salt Lake City; and grandson Richard of Amherst, MA.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., April 3, 2012 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209.
