

Isabel Lang Voelkel, age 97, of Austin died April 6, 2016. She was born at home to Walter and Amalia Brinkrolf Lang on March 15, 1919, in Harper, Texas. Isabel was the oldest of 7 children. She was a direct descendant of the German Immigrants who settled in Fredericksburg in 1846. Her parents moved to Fredericksburg when she was 3, and she grew up there and attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and High School. She was a lifelong Catholic.
She married Oscar E. Voelkel in 1941, and they moved to Austin in 1949. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by her brother Walter Lang Jr., sisters Virginia Jung, Ida Mae Fiedler, and Dorothy Leihsing. Isabel’s surviving sisters are Rita Morrison and Teresa White.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Peggy Williams and Husband Don of Austin, Jo Lynn Furlan of Austin and Teresa Lovejoy of Brazoria.
Isabel had 10 grandchildren; Clay Williams of San Francisco; David Williams and wife Terri of Southlake; Corey Williams and wife Stacie of The Woodlands; Oscar Williams and fiancé Laurie Taylor of Magnolia; Garrett Williams of Lake Jackson; Billy Furlan of Austin; Vinnie Furlan of Sugar Land; Heidi Glass and husband Travis of Georgetown; Hannah Lovejoy of Austin; and Ty Lovejoy of Austin; and 10 great grandchildren; Cole, Nate and Sam Williams, Max and Mason Williams, Emma Williams, Haleigh, Dominic and Lacey Furlan, and Eli Furlan.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Rd, Austin, TX 78749.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Gabriel Project of St. Catherine’s of Siena in Austin, Texas, or the charity of your choice.
