

He was born at Yorktown Memorial Hospital on July 6, 1970.
He received his sacraments of baptism, first holy communion, and confirmation at Holy Cross Church in Yorktown.
After Israel graduated from Yorktown High School in 1990, he attended the Victoria Police Academy right after graduating and fulfilled his childhood dream of being a police officer. He began his peace officer career with a job at Yorktown Police Department under his mentor, Chief Guy Nobles. He also worked at DeWitt County and Lockhart Police Department before transferring to Austin Police Department.
Israel is survived by his wife, Michelle Garcia; his daughters, Kailee Garcia and Karisa (Jose) Gutierrez; stepdaughter Daphne Maiorka and stepson Samuel Maiorka; his mother and stepfather, Olga and Glenn Lassmann; mother in law, Lisa Fredette; his brother, Buddy (Tracy) Lassmann and Jordan Garcia; sisters: Lisa (John) St. Clair, Danielle (Kyle) Robertson; Amanda Lassmann; Kristin (Jason) Dye; and Dora Garcia; sister in laws Krystal (Wayne) Linsey and Destiny Fredette; his nephews: Sheldon, Brody, Hayden, and Ty; nieces: Kortney, Alyssa, Kennedy, Haylie, Caitlyn, Rebecca and Lilly; grandsons Wyatt Brown and Braxton Harris; and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Reinaldo Garcia; maternal grandparents: Gilberto and Guadalupe Ochoa; Melvin H. and Lorene Lassmann.
A public visitation for Israel will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of his service at 11:00 AM at Bannockburn Church, 7100 Brodie Lane, Austin, Texas. A committal service will follow at Lockhart Cemetery in Lockhart.
