

Jacob Alexander Edwards was born on the picturesque Johns Island, South Caroliina, on April 3, 1956, to Daniel and Evelina Edwards. His mother tragically passed away during childbirth. However, having no children of her own he was adopted and lovingly nurtured by his Great aunt and uncle, Beatrice and William Lee. William and Beatrice lived adjacent to her sister, Rosalee and her husband Jomes, who were married and blessed with nine spirited children. This spirited household formed a vibrant tapestry of family life. Jacob was blessed to be added as another brother of this close-knit family clan. Jacob (known as Jake to his family). His educational journey began on John's Island, attending elementary and middle school. While attending High School, Jake showcased his athletic prowess as an enthusiastic football player, carving out a reputation for himself as a feared defensive player. After graduation, he answered the call of duty by enlisting and joining the United States Air Force, embarking on a new adventure and a successful military career. As a soldier, Jake became known for being courteous, kind, and dependable.
He became a Sargent, received several awards, and accommodations. He served at McDill, Fort Jackson, and several Air Force Bases in the US and in Korea. After his ten-year tenure in the Air Force, he decided to retire and make Austin his home, where he met his soul mate, Virginia, on a blind date. They were married on May 24, 1984. He studied Computer Programming at Durham Business College while employed at Motorola. Jacob was one of a handful of employees hired at the 3M Corporation after 3M made the move from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Texas. He worked at the University of Texas Athletic Department. Jacob's passion was sports. Hr enjoyed all sports, but football was his favorite. He was a diehard Washington Redskins fan, which sparked two battles a year between him and Virginia, who is a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He united with the 19th Street BC where he was an active member. He served in the Young Men for Christ, the Brotherhood, and the City Wide Brotherhood, served as the Trustee Chair, and sang with The Male Chorus. He was ordained on January 14, 1994, Being that he was from a large and close-knit family, Jacob had no problems being inserted into his ready-made family. Angela, Audrea, Terence, Sean, and Rodger were his adult children and did not live with them but were an integral part of the family. The twins Richard and Robert i eventually left the home, leaving Charles and Patrick. Never wanting to leave any child behind, Jacob insisted they adopt Roderick. Wanting a girl they adopted their Granddaughter Annastoria. Jacob passed away on Thursday, July 31 surrounded by his wife, Anna and sons Sean and Charles.
He leaves to mourn his passing his Faithful and Loving wife, Virginia, Daughters Annastorai, Angela, (Stan) Audrea, sons Charles, Patrick, Sean, Terence, Richard and Robert. Son Rodger preceded him in death. His brothers, James, Wilbur, sister, Rosa Mae, Gwen, Lorinda, Sandra, Jackie, Cheryl, Francine, and Vanessa. His brother Lawrence preceded him in death. 22 Grands, 27 Great Grands, too numerous to name, are: his friends, cousins, coworkers. Rest in Heaven Soldier you have fought a good fight
A wake service for Jacob will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fuller Sheffield Funeral Services, 2808 E. MLK Jr. Blvd., Austin, TX 78702. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at East Nineteenth Street missionary Baptist Church, 3401 Rogge Ln, Austin, TX 78723. A committal will occur Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Cook Walden – Memorial Hill, 13700 North IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
