

James Edward Hart was born on December 2, 1937 in San Antonio, TX to Virgil Hart and Margaret Young Hart. His family moved to Austin in 1940. He attended Pease Elementary and Austin High School. Jim joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955 where he proudly served for four years, including service overseas. Upon returning to Texas, Jim enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin, and received his B.B.A. in Accounting in 1967. After graduation, he became a Certified Public Accountant and began working for Touche Ross (now Deloitte & Touche) as an auditor. Later, Jim was employed by Radian Corporation as their first Controller. Later, he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Parker Kinetic Designs, Inc. for many years. At the time of his death, Jim was employed by Travis County as Facilities Accounting Manager. For over 30 years, Jim was a member of the Austin Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. Jim is survived by his two daughters whom he loved dearly, Amber May Hart and Cara Lynn Hart, and his former wife and friend, Carolyn May Hart, along with cousins, nephews and a niece. Jim was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lucy B. Hart, who raised him, and by his parents and his uncle, Barney Hart. Jim was known by his friends and loved ones as a man of integrity. His passions included reading, cooking, and listening to records. He will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley Fish Funeral Home.
