Jim married Carolyn Biggs on October 20, 1956. He graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He enjoyed a long career in the field of oil and gas, working for Shell Oil, Mitchell Energy, and the City of Austin. A member of the Presbyterian Church and the Engineering Society, he also had a passion for tennis, Texas Longhorn sports, bible study, and his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Collette McMurtrey, Judie May, John May, and Michael May; grandchildren, Sherylin Stephens, Sean McMurtrey, Heather Brown, Jennifer Call, Jagger Nelson, Isabella May, and Sophia May.
A private funeral service is scheduled for Monday, April 6, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. at Cook Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home and will be followed by a private committal service at Austin Memorial Park.
