

Jim graduated from McCallum High School in Austin, Texas and attended The University of Texas. He served in the U.S. Army in the early 1960's. Most of his working years were spent in the oil and gas industry. At the time of his retirement in 2002 he was a senior procurement manager. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed photography, traveling, hunting and fishing. He loved cars and enjoyed drag racing as a hobby. He was a member of the Southeast Church of Christ, Friendswood, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
James is survived by his wife, Barbara; 5 children, Lorri and husband Ralph of Leesbury, TX, Mark and wife Darinka of Waynesville, MO, James (Jimmy) of Friendswood, TX, Amanda, husband Kurt of Spring, TX and William (Will) of Dickinson, TX; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Janis Blackburn and husband Alton of Austin, TX. Extended family includes nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Last but not least his beloved dog, Foxie.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given in the last months by Faith Community Hospice. A special thanks to our neighbors, David and Diana Perez, for their kindness, devotion and attention to Jim every day.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Wallace Mountain Cemetery, Dripping Springs, TX with Graveside Service to follow at 2:00 pm, Rick Fyffe, minister at the Southeast Church of Christ, will be officiating.
