

Jim, or “Jimmy” as he was known by family members, passed away in the comfort of his home on 8/21/2024, as he slept. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandpa. He was born in Colquitt, GA in 1937. He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force, honorably discharged on April 11, 1962, and recognized for his Honest and Faithful Service. After his discharge he made Texas his home. He was an Austin Police Officer, he worked for Hillcrest Dairies, and then he worked for the Austin American-Statesman for over 52 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Norma Hatherly, and his beloved son Brian Tully, 2 of his sisters and 1 brother.
He was survived by his wife Louise Baker Tully, 1 brother Bobby B. Tully and 1 sister Bonnie L. Moorehead. 2 stepdaughters: Amanda G. Hayes and Susan L. Oden, 6 grandchildren: Alyssa J. Wright, Gregory D. Hayes, Rachel M. Bailey, Zachary V. Hayes, Payton K. Oden, and David B. Skinner, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Weed-Corley-Fish at 9 am – 11 am on Sunday 8/25/2024 at 5416 Parkcrest Dr. in Austin, TX. There will be a graveside memorial, leaving from the funeral home at the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery at 2800 Hancock Dr.
We would like to recognize the staff at Resolution Hospice: Glyn, Claire, Araceli, and Fancy for taking great care of him in his last days.
He was known for his excellence in service and his humor. He will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.
