Janet Lewis Bennett passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at Ledgestone Senior Living in Austin, Texas. She was surrounded by the family she loved. She was born January 14, 1951, in Camden, Arkansas, to Martha and Ellis Lewis, and was the youngest of three daughters. After graduating from Camden High School in May 1968, Janet enrolled at Henderson State University, where she joined the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She also met the love of her life, Jim Bennett, during this time, whom she married shortly before graduating in 1972 with a degree in Business Education. Throughout her 40 years living in Austin, Janet was a loyal and supportive friend to many. Truly devoted to her family, she was a doting mother and grandmother, and even assisted with caring for her own mother, who also battled dementia. While she loved all things chocolate, her brownies were legendary.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Terry. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jim, their children, Tracey Carleton (Adrian) and Brian Bennett, their grandchildren, Allison and Matthew, and her sister, Brenda Warnock (Jerry) and family.
Memorial services will be announced at a later time by the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Capital of Texas Chapter.
