

Janice Wilkerson Mobley, 93, passed away Monday, September 21, 2015 in Austin, TX where she had lived for the last 3 years. She was born at home April 6, 1922 in Atwood, Oklahoma, and spent her childhood years in Holdenville, OK. She was the youngest daughter of William N. Wilkerson and Mary Irwin Wilkerson.
She graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women, and went to work for IBM. Her job eventually took her to San Antonio, Texas where she met and married her beloved husband, Wilford Reagan (Bill) Mobley. They had 2 children and were married for 21 years. After her husband's sudden death, she worked part time as a computer teacher at San Antonio Community College and sold residential real estate. She lived in San Antonio for over 60 years, and was a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church, teaching Sunday school and working in the church bookshop. She was a dedicated community volunteer, and especially enjoyed her 25 years of service as a docent at the Southwest Craft Center. She also enjoyed the many friends she made in her Prayer Group and Garden Club, and she loved keeping in shape by participating in water aerobics at Incarnate Word. Jan was an avid sports fan, and never missed watching a Spurs basketball game, Dallas Cowboys football game, or a major tennis tournament.
Jan lived a long and full life, and was especially devoted to her family and grandchildren. She was determined and resilient, and easily made friends wherever she lived. She was a faithful and spiritual person, and truly blessed us all with her presence.
She was predeceased in death by her husband Bill Mobley; her parents, Willie and Mary Wilkerson; and her sister, Juanita Satterfield. She is survived by her son, Mark Mobley; her daughter, Jenny Mobley Gaston and her husband, Brian Gaston; her granddaughter Whitney Gaston Abblitt and her husband, Parker Abblitt; her granddaughters, Caroline and Paige Gaston; her niece Shirley Hawkins and her husband Charlie Hawkins; her nephew Bill Satterfield; and numerous other great nephews and nieces.
A family interment will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, followed by a memorial service at Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap Place, San Antonio, TX on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., with reception to follow in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or the Southwest School of Art, San Antonio, TX.
