It is with great sadness that the family of Jeanne McGinley announce her passing on December 1, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Jeanne was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, raised in New Jersey and moved in 1976 to Austin, Texas where she continued to live in the Brentwood area for many years. Family and friends will remember her as a spirited woman who gave freely of her time and talents.
Jeanne had a varied professional career working at RCA, a real estate institute in South Jersey and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services in Austin until her retirement. Her free time was spent volunteering at church and decorating for holidays or crafting – cardmaking, crocheting, sewing (hundreds of Barbie outfits), floral arranging and anything that included a glue gun and glitter. Jeanne was a devoted crafter and always had a project going.
The family takes special peace in knowing that she passed doing what she loved – crafting. Holidays were a craft time favorite for her. This year she was busy building Christmas trees and packages for under the trees. This project brought her much joy.
A woman of faith, Jeanne will be tenderly remembered by her three children, Eileen (Robby), Brian (Louise) and Kelly (Jeff) and fondly remembered by her five grandchildren, Meagan, Rebecca, Kathryn, Carolyn and Harrison.
A Memorial Service for Jeanne will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church on Burnet Road in Austin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation or the American Cancer Society, two charities that were personal to Jeanne.
