Jennie Rosealani Chock (Rose), beloved wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022 at the age of 93. She was born on January 12, 1929 in Honolulu, HI where she was raised by her mama Emma and father John Loa. Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Alfred Wendelin Chock (Al) who she met at a moonlight picnic on the beach in Oahu.
Rose was a military wife, moving numerous times including to Libya from which she was evacuated without her husband in a military transport plane with six children in tow. She worked as a semiconductor QA/QC inspector at Texas Instruments in Lubbock and introduced her children to an industry where three of them established careers and met the loves of their life. Rose retired in 1995 and she and Al moved to Austin, TX to be closer to children and grandkids.
Rose was an avid reader her entire life and was thrilled to receive cards and letters from her children. In the last weeks of her life, she read the first book illustrated by her grandson Kalen. She loved music and took great pride in the academic, artistic, athletic, and professional accomplishments of her grandchildren (and the fact that they all grew up to be kind, caring adults).
The center of Rose’s life was her family. She is survived by her daughters from her first marriage Cynthia and Alison; son Brian (Bobbi); son Alfred (Bonnie); daughter Kim (Dave); daughter Laurie (Steve); son Kevin (Terry); son Gerald (Tammi); former daughter-in-law JoAnn; grandchildren Kelii (Colleen), Karissa (Gera), Kalen (Jaclyn), Ava (Jesse), Katie, Noah, Izaya, Zoe, Alfred (Marjana), Lee, Sherrie, Jonathan (Alex), Jared, Isaac, Lisa, Erica, Stephen (Brigette) and Alani (Caitlynd); and great grandchildren Ethan, Malachi, Elijah, Trey, Layla, Kalani, Kyan, Thor, Sage, Linus, Simon, Milo and Rosie.
The family will be forever grateful to the caregivers of Tran’s Senior Oasis for the care, compassion and love they showed our Rose in her final years. They kept her safe, happy and healthy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and showered her with hugs and love.
Per Rose’s request, a family-only celebration of life will be held at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX on December 3, 2022 at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Rose’s honor to her caregivers at Tran’s Senior Oasis. Checks (payable to Luan Tran with Rose’s name on the memo line) should be sent to Tran’s Senior Oasis, 2304 Live Oak Circle, Round Rock, TX 78681.
