

Jerry Hugh Roberts Jerry Hugh Roberts, age 71, passed away December 11, 2003, after a valiant and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born July 7, 1932, in Beaumont, Texas; he was a member of a pioneer Texas family. After attending TMI in San Antonio, he transferred to Allen Academy in Bryan, Texas, where he was a National Honor Society graduate. He then entered the University of Texas where he earned BBA and law degrees. Jerry was called into active duty in the U.S. Army and served as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps. After discharge from the U.S. Army, Jerry went to work as an Assistant Attorney General of Texas. During his thirty-four year career, he handled Eminent Domain cases for the state of Texas and the prison system, Civil Penalty suits for the Railroad Commission, land management and title problems for the University of Texas, Parks and Wildlife Department, and General Land Office in addition to any other state agencies which had a Land Mineral and title problem. The last eleven years of his career, he served as Chief of the Natural Resources Section of the Attorney Generals Office before retiring in 1993. Jerry was an avid Longhorn football and baseball fan and was also an accomplished fisherman and hunter. He worked tirelessly with the Northwest Austin Little League during the late sixties and early seventies. He was a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, Sigma Nu Fraternity, and a lifetime member of Texas Ex-Students Association. Survivors include his beloved wife Marilyn (Bebe), son, Mark J. Roberts and his wife Carrie, his uncle Claude C. Roberts, Houston, Texas and many cousins. Special thanks go to AAA Medical and Oxygen Supply for their compassionate and caring staff. They were wonderful to us. We also want to thank the staff and medical personnel at Pulmonary and Critical Care Consultants of Austin. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2003 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 209 West 27th Street. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Pete Greaves, Paul Luckey, Greg Moore, Ken Sours, John W. Thompson and Hugh Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Davidson, Joe Foy, Linward Shivers and Willie Zapalac. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 26460, Austin TX 78755-0460, St. Andrews Episcopal School or to a charity of your choice.
