Jesse was born in Big Wells, Tx, to Jesus and Francisca Cazares on January 1, 1944.
The family would later move to Austin in 1952. Jesse attended Johnston High School in east Austin and graduated in 1963. After graduation he married Mary Elena Garcia in 1964 and later enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966 where he was honored to serve his country as a Sgt. Fuel Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1971. Jesse and Mary had four daughters. Dina (Marcellino), Yolanda, Jennifer (Johnny), and Audrey (Chris) and in 2007, Jesse’s family grew with the adoption of Kelsey (Steven) on August 23rd. Left to cherish his memory are his 5 daughters and their spouses, 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jesse is also survived by 9 siblings (Joe, Henry, Mary, Gloria, David, Alice, Dora, Robert and Rosie) and their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Francisca and his father, Jesus.
After his service in the Air Force Jesse began his career in the meat market industry, where he specialized in the craft of secondary butchery. Jesse’s career spanned over forty years until he retired in 2014.
Jesse loved many things but was a master at tinkering around in his garage. In his early years as a family man, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and building playscapes for his daughters. He particularly loved painting elaborate Christmas scenes and displays and would often lend his craft to the church where he served as a deacon. In his later years, you could find him on most days sitting in his garage making something out of nothing and enjoying life.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 7:00 pm at Weed Corley Fish at 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704. Reverend Ruben Garcia will officiate.
