

Jessie Lu Hopkins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away at the age of 74 on November 11, 2004. Jessie was born in Paul, Idaho, January 10, 1930. She attended elementary and high school in Paul and Rupert, Idaho. She later attended the College of Idaho, Arizona State University and Texas State Teachers College. She is survived by her husband, Neil Hopkins, who she married on June 23, 1951 and five daughters: Lula Green and husband Billy of Austin, their sons Ryan Green of Kansas City, Kansas, Gregory Green of Austin, Jacob Green and wife Bonnie of Fairbanks, Alaska, Georgia Graham and husband Nic of Bellaire, Texas and children Ian and Mary-Claire, Phyllis Hopkins of Austin, Mary Geil and husband Glenn of Sugar Hill, Georgia and sons Adam, Brian and Colby and Carol Hopkins of Austin; and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Alan Braga and wife Martha of Encampment, Wyoming and a host of friends. Jessie was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Austin. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for many years in Austin and other communities where she lived. Jessie also cooked for Meals on Wheels for many years. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jessies doctors and the staff at Seton Medical Center, especially the ICU staff for their loving care. A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church, 8001 Mesa Drive, Austin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church Organ Fund, TX/OK Kiwanis Foundation, Girl Scouts of Austin or Meals on Wheels.
