He was born the second of six siblings, Isaac, Erik (Alex), Mireya, Jose, and Luz; and an uncle of two nieces, and a nephew. Jesus was a beloved grandson to Amalia Villela Salas & Francisco Briones Tovar. There are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, along with a large extended family in La Melada, San Luis Potosi, Mexico that will also mourn the loss of this great young man.
Chuy was the light on a dark day. His smile was contagious, and he was a very gracious person. He had such a beautiful heart, which came with a genuine innocence. He had a charm and charisma about him, people instantly loved him. Chuy faced each day with courage. He had the ability to confront anything with a positive attitude, and although painful and difficult at times, he showed no fear, and never gave up. He didn’t allow cancer to define who he was. Chuy was always there for whoever needed him, he was dedicated to inspiring others to continue their valiant battle, and offered them hope for the future.
Jesus was a protector, who had a profound love for his family, especially his brothers and sisters. He expressed often, how much he appreciated their sacrifices, and quick to point out the teamwork that his parents and family displayed during his continued care. He was often feisty, and knew exactly what he needed, and told them how to do it. They always found humor in teasing him about having a medical degree. He was one to advocate for himself very well.
Chuy wanted to be a jockey when he grew up. His legs grew too long, but his love for horses continued. He loved soccer, playing and following his favorite teams, along with music and car shows. He displayed great pride in his trucks and cars, which often led to him driving too fast. Lastly, he cherished the times with his brother Alex, while gaming on Play Station.
Jesus was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Loy Shiflett; great- grandmother, Mura Pfieffer; paternal great-grandmother, Juana Tovar Parra, Domitila Salas Briones; great-grandfather, Isaac Briones Tovar; uncles, Mario Villela Salas, Jose Andres Briones Villela; cousins, Jose Luis Villela Duque and Artemio Sanchez Villela. Along with warrior brother, Clayton, and Big sister, Cori. Chuy dedicated many of his successes in their memory, and this inspired him to continue the fight.
Our family is grateful for the continued blessings and support that we have received over the years, it means more than we can express. A special thank you to the FAM foundation, Kelly Daniel, Frank Fumich and Julie Luis for the love and support. The Villela family would like to express their gratitude for the continued love and support from the Del Valle ISD.
Chuy was blessed to be able to graduate from high school like a normal teenager. Kelly, thank you for being his person.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made to Fighting All Monsters, Beautifully Loved, or Chance for Hope.
There will also be a donation box if you would like to donate, and funds will be distributed.
Those that we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, always near. So loved, so missed, forever dear.
