

Jimmy was born in Beaumont, Tx. on March 11, 1950 and passed away in Austin, Tx. February 28, 2012. He lived a full life traveling the United States and Jamaica where he made many friends. His career was in the music industry. In his earlier years, Jimmy played in a band known as “The Kids”. He traveled with Rusty Wier doing lights and sound for the band. He then moved on to become the lighting director at the Frank Erwin Center where he worked for twenty four years.
Jimmy will be sorely missed by his family, his union brothers and sisters and his many friends. He is survived by his soul mate Shell, his dog Lacy and his lap cat P.K., Tammy, Gaylan, his sisters Patsy Malain, Mary Ann Edson; and his many nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren Keith, Lindsey, and Jordan; and his great granddaughter Kami. Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers John Henry, Frank and David and both parents.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin Texas. Burial to follow at Austin Memorial Park off of Hancock Dr.
Honoring Jimmy as pallbearers will be; Greg Lioon, Carl Tangredi, Jake Plaia, Murray Hebert, Jordan Wykes, Keith Sammon.
Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of James Phelan to the Austin Humane Society.
