

She graduated from the University of Houston with a Master's of Social Work. Shortly thereafter, she became a licensed social worker.
She worked as a Social Worker for the State of Texas. She was instrumental in assisting underprivileged families in East Texas to obtain financial aid and medical services. She then worked with the Texas Child Protective Services to help train their case workers in coordinating care and services for children in foster care and the families caring for such children. Working with the State, she also became one of their foremost educators and trainer throughout the State. In 2003, she became employed with Texas Mentor, a private placement agency for foster children and adoptive children. She served the Lord Jesus Christ and all the people He placed in her path.
She was actively involved in, Powerhouse of Praise Christian Fellowship Church, reading, and ministering God’s Grace and love to both young and old. She was passionate about all people and demonstrated Christ’s love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Fruit of the Holy Spirit).
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Mills, and her husband, Emmanuel J. Stamos.
She is survived by her children, Penelope Zagroba (Gene), Christopher Stamos (Rebecca), Andrew Stamos (Kelly); Grandchildren, Ashton Stamos (Samantha), Nicholas Stamos (Michaelyn), Saylor Stamos, Scotlyn Stamos, Guy Stamos, Alexa Stamos, and Brightyn Stamos; Great-Grandchildren: Laim Stamos and Chase Stamos. She is also survived by her nephews Jim Stamos and John Stamos.
The family would like to thank Magnolia Hospice and their nurse managers, health-aids, chaplains, and social workers for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days.

A visitation for Joanne will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 PM.
A graveside service will occur Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
As Joanne’s life was full of vibrancy, laughter, and so much joy, she requested that all attendants wear colorful attire and not dark clothing. She indicated that, as her life was truly a celebration, she desired all to dress accordingly.
