

John Wayne Casner, 57, was BOI (Born on the Island) on June 15, 1958, during his late father’s junior year of medical school in Galveston. Raised in Austin, Texas, John attended Austin public schools, Texas State University, and Texas State Technical Institute. He made his transition on earth to his heavenly father on October 27, 2015. John resided in the Seguin/Geronimo area.
He was pre-deceased by his father Stanley Wayne Casner M.D. of Austin; his grandparents Juel and John McGee of Galveston; Kathryn and Stanley Wayne Casner Sr. of Presidio; as well as his Aunt Merle McGee Spears; Patricia Merle Spears; Martha Lucille Spears; Uncle Wayne McGee P.E.; and Aunt Anna Casner Tavenner PhD. He is survived by his children, Chelsea Anne of San Marcos, and Christopher Wayne of Geronimo; the mother of his children, Ruth Anne Gallup P.E. of San Marcos; his mother, Lucille McGee Casner of Austin; his sisters Barbara Casner of Burbank; and Peggy and her husband Dr. Alan Alderson of Midland. He is also survived by cousins Daniel and John Spears, and Mark, David, John, Sharon and Paul Tavenner.
John was an avid skydiver completing over 365 successful jumps. John and his dad built many airplanes, some experimental, as part of the EAA chapter in central Texas. He celebrated his 16th birthday flying solo in six different airplanes. John enjoyed being a builder and land developer with projects such as Fentress Airpark (SKYDIVE SAN MARCOS) and numerous infill land projects. John was also a passionate dog lover. Hannah, Riley, Rudy and Angus were considered his living angels on earth and his guardian angels in death.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am followed by a funeral services conducted at 11:00 am in the morning on Saturday, the 31st of October 2015, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
