John L. Hanson

John Leroy Hanson passed away at home on July 6, 2016, at the age of 84. He was born August 22, 1931 in Minneapolis Minnesota. He was happily married to his wife Joan for 65 years and together they had 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. John was always very proud of his family and they were the center of his life. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

John served our country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He retired from a distinguished career at IBM and spent his golden years surrounded by family and friends.

He was a master craftsman and created countless numbers of hand-made wooden toys and furniture for his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. They have all become highly prized family treasures.

He was preceded in death by: his brother Tom Hanson, his sister Maryann K. Plash-Patterson and his grandson John F. A. Hanson.

He is survived by his wife Joan Hanson, his daughters Jane Wear, Patty (Jerry) Barton and Mary Stephens, his son Tony (Cherie) Hanson; his grandchildren Matt (Katie) Wear, Colin Wear, Laura Hanson, Seth Barton, McLean Stephens and Shane Moehle

His great-grandchildren Brett and Brody Wear.

We will all miss him dearly but we are comforted just knowing that his spirit has been set free and he will live forever in the arms of the Lord and in our hearts until we meet again.

A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, July 10, 2016, 4:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas.
