

John Allen Moore, 66, died peacefully at his Austin home on April 2, 2014 after a courageous battle with neuroendocrine tumors. He was born on March 30, 1948 in Danville, PA to the late Isaac and Jane Allen Moore and raised in Lexington, KY.
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, John was a licensed professional engineer who provided a broad range of expertise in the power industry. He worked at Navigant Consulting for 21 years prior to becoming a founder and principal of Stratus Energy Group. John was a well-respected member of numerous professional organizations and made significant contributions to the energy marketplace throughout his career.
John was a very devoted family man. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and felt blessed to have their love and respect. He was never too busy to lend a helping hand and made the world a better place for those who knew him. For many years John worked with the CUPS ministry to improve health and education in northeast Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley. He was a man with great faith in God and will be remembered for all the good that he did in his lifetime. John’s presence will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife Patty of 44 years; son Brian Moore and wife Kim; daughter Sarah Valenzuela and husband Andy; grandchildren Brandon and Whitney Moore and Parker, Charlotte and soon to arrive Jake Valenzuela, all of Austin. He also is survived by his sister Ann Gardner and husband Ben of Goshen, KY; brother Caasi Moore and wife Tari of League City, TX; special friend Butch Pflueger, along with many other loving family members and friends.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church, 11512 Olson Drive, on Saturday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m.
