

He moved to Austin with his family at the age of nine, attended Austin High School and was on the football team.
In his early years, he was employed by a seismograph company exploring for oil in south Texas. He also was employed by the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company and by Scogin’s Service Station for many years.
On October 2, 1955, he was married to Beatrice Hannusch at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Corinne Klein; brother, Gaylord Scogin; sister, Cynthia Klein Nisula; sister-in-law, Pamela Hannusch Hight; and many other relatives.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beatrice Scogin; his loving children, a son, John B. Scogin of Leander, Texas; three daughters, Cindy Nelson of Pflugerville, Texas; Barbara (David) Gonser; and Sherry (Kenneth) Lawrence, both of Rockdale, Texas; sister, Glenda Klein Murray; special niece, Cathy Lane and her family; sister-in-law, Joyce Scogin; brother-in-law, Ralph Nisula; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clifford and Jacquelyn Ward; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be John Renneker, Russell Scogin, James Scogin, Reace Lane, Mark Nisula, Steven Ward, Nathan Hight and Jason Huff.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Lane, Brian Renneker, Shawn O’Leary, Jeff O’Leary, Roland Ward, John Kolodczak, David Kolodczak and Mike Naleieha.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 5th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Cook-Walden Funeral Home at 6100 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 6th at 11:00 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 1500 W. Anderson Ln., Austin, Texas with burial at Capital Parks Memorial Cemetery in Pflugerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Vision 2020 at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
