

Johniece Evonell Powers, 72, of Austin, Texas, died April 27, 2012, surrounded by family. Johniece (Jony) was born July 6, 1939, in Portales, New Mexico, also known as “Goober Gulch,” to Woodrow Farrell and P. Elvira Pritchett.
She attended Albuquerque High School in Albuquerque, NM. She enjoyed opera as well as riding her motorcycle along with other motorcycle enthusiasts. She travelled around the world to Egypt, Okinawa, Malaysia, mainland Japan, Great Wall of China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam being her favourite destinations. Her family was the highlight of her life. She was employed by the local water district and enjoyed providing friendly customer service.
She is survived by her husband, Lee A. Powers; her daughters, Karolene Elizabeth Pittman (Randy), Tammey Lynne Bratcher (Steve), Johniece Evonell Blankenship, (Donnie), and Myra Lynnette Powers; brother, Tom Pritchett; granddaughters, Brett Amber Hackett, Cristy Michelle Treder, Whitney Ryan Bratcher, Misty Lee Brooks, Linsey Nicole Wade, and Johniece Eileen Powers; grandsons, Michael Brennand Seeley, Cody John Blankenship, Jeremy Bryan Treder, Jason Farrell Treder, Dustin Powers Blankenship, Steven Tracy Bratcher II, and Dean Allen Powers; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Jony loves the Lord, loved her family, friends, her church, the missionaries, and the ladies of the Relief Society, dogs, cats, music and life. She was an accomplished artist and her paintings will be enjoyed for years to come. We would like to thank the staff at St. David’s South Medical Center, where she received extraordinary care from her medical team. We adore each of them and will remain forever grateful for their kindness. She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow Farrell Pritchett, and mother, Patsy Elvira Stork, and step-daughter Debra Lee Powers.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Sunday, the 29th of April 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Light refreshments will be provided by the family through Cook-Walden Funeral Home Catering Services.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 30th of April, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 12001 Bee Cave Rd, Bee Caves, Texas under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in her honor.
