Johnny was active in a gone but not forgotten family business, Vaught's Nursery on Burnet Road. He enjoyed Travel, the Outdoors, the Gulf Coast and Highland Lakes.
In 1981, Johnny founded the B.S.Cookers Barbecue Cook Off Team to compete in the first Cookoff at the Austin Livestock Show and Rodeo held on the grounds of the old City Coliseum. Johnny's legacy will continue as the B. S. Cookers are "Still Smokin" after 37 continuous years.
Johnny is survived by his daughter, Dr. Leslie Vaught Fuller (husband George); his son, Jay Vaught; his nephew, Chris Keyser; a long-time friend, Teresa "T" Lee; and many other friends.
He is predeceased by his wife, Kim Keyser Vaught; his parents, Patricia W. Vaught-Davis and John Barton Vaught; and his son, Barty Vaught.
A Celebration of Life, probably including BBQ, will be scheduled at a future date.
