Jon Schneider, age 78, of Austin, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Jon was born August 16, 1943, in Lubbock, Texas to Dorothy (Brown) and Valerie Schneider. Jon was a proud member of The United States Navy and served his country from 1963-1993, he spent the first 4yrs active duty and did one tour in Vietnam. He married Venila (Munk) Schneider and together they had four children, Jon, Theodore, Elizabeth, and Valerie. Jon held a few different jobs throughout his 78 years including his time with the US Navy’s Seabees as a construction equipment mechanic, a master mechanic with the City of Austin and he worked for FedEx.
Jon had many roles in his life. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Master Mechanic, Chief Petty Officer and even Boy Scout Leader (Scout Master) for Packs 446 & 448. He had a passion for bowling and spending time at the lake. Jon liked to travel and would love nothing more than to pack up the RV to go camping with his family. He was a tinkerer and was always finding something to work on when he was not playing games with his family. He once made dominoes out of metal for his family to play with. Jon may have come across as shy at first but once he got to know someone it was easy for him to open up and share a silly side of himself.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Valerie and Dorothy Schneider, and his siblings Albert Joe Schneider, Per Schneider, and Alma Cooper.
His memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Venila (Munk) Schneider; his children Jon Allen Schneider of Eufaula, AL, Theodore Eugene Schneider (Michelle) of Austin, TX, Elizabeth Eileen Schneider of Schertz, TX and Valerie Catherine Macklin (Ricky) of Austin, TX; his grandchildren Jon Kenneth Schneider, Le Michael Schneider, Aaron Joseph Norman Schneider, Jordan Maxine Schneider, Trevor Eugene Schneider, Jarred Oland Nathaniel Schneider, Timothy Erasmo Rodriguez, Jacob Manuel Sharer, Lukas Jack Sharer, Hannah Fowler, Ashten Sue Raylyn Macklin, Colton Dwight Macklin and Micheala Cunningham; his great-grandson Elijah Nicholas Cain; his brothers Stanley Schneider of Pampa, TX, Frank (Sharon) Schneider of Corpus Christi, TX and Leland (Gail) Schneider of Richmond, VA; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
