Johnathan and I had a very personal friendship, however brief.  My ex Matt had met him at TBRU and he visited us in Chicago several times. And those were incredibly memorable visits. 18 years since his death and I still remember him like it was yesterday.

Know that his kindness and spirit still lives on today and has influenced countless lives even now as his memory is frequently the topic of stories, both motivational and cautionary.

Remember to love the ones you're with.

I still think of Jonathan often. I can't believe its been 4+ years. I miss his humor and whit. He is a good man.



It has been over 4 years now and you have not been forgotten.  Your are still missed by all of your friends.  You left this earth too soon.  You will always live in our hearts.



It is impossible for me to give an account of how much Jonathan meant to me.  He was more like a brother than a friend.    Jonathan was an abiding source of joy to all who knew him.  I remember the first time I met him in the French House kitchen.  He was reading a book and cooking some italian food and immediately offered me some.  He was generous from the first and to the last.  We will miss you buddy.



I had met Jonathan in Texas, about 9 years ago.  He was funny, intellectual, and an extremely nice person. We hit it off as friends and he spent time with Matt and I tromping around the Chicago area.  I remember the first time he came here in the winter, he was so excited that the forcast was for snow.  He went outside and took a  lot of pictures, but I don't think he enjoyed the truly "midwestern" snowball fight we had.  I enjoyed visiting the art museums with him, and got to see an andy warhol exhibit in Austin while visiting him there. He will always have a special place in my heart, and my sincere sympathy and condolances are to his family, other friends, and partner Mike.  It is truly a sad day for the many friends he had here in Chicago.



That day we saw snow fall from the top of the Empire State Building.  We took the subway train to lower Manhattan.  In the lobby of the World Trade Center we looked out over the Hudson River at the night lights.  It seems like yesterday.    Many years and so many great memories.   Iâll miss you always.



I shall always remember the time I spent with Jonathan, as he was a warm and loving man.  I learned a lot from him, and in my relationship with him, I know that he made me a better person.  He will be truly missed, as much as he was truly loved.



Working, talking, and of course laughing with Jonathan. Great respect for his cerebral style of thinking, his persistence, his eloquent style of communicating. I worked with Jonathan via phone and e-mail. He always exhibited class and professionalism. He will be missed by many, myself included.



Jonathan was my best friend and I will truly miss his wit, charm, kindness, and his fabulous style.  He was always ready to go shopping with me at The Domain, The Outlet Malls and the notorious "IKEA".  We would spend hours in IKEA tossing ideas back and forth about how his house would look like MTV Cribs when he got done with it.  There was also weekend breakfast that we enjoyed and Sushi all the time.  I started picking up Eat, Drink, Austin so that I could keep up with his wanting to try new places.  He was never afraid to try new things and places.  I'm still finding candy wrappers in my car from the many times we went out and he picked up candy on the way out, even though he knew how anal I am about keeping it clean.  The bowl on top of the fridge that we kept full of candy for him, and yes his own separate peanut butter in the cabinet as well. Along with the Diet Cokes and bags of Chips. Many a night he came and hung out with Chris while I listened to them talk about politics or watch Family Guy.  He was always willing to pop out his very fancy cell phone and wikipedia the information that he needed to prove his point or inform me of something I didn't know about.  His laugh was infectious.  I enjoyed it very much and couldn't help joining in.  He was always ready to get us out of the house even if it was only to go and get cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory. He always did enjoy the Reeses Buttercup flavor.     I love you and will miss you terribly.  Athena

I can't believe this has happened, this wonderful guy has been taken from us all.   I have cared for him so much since we met and became close friends. I am still in shock and saddened that it was only last night that I found out about his passing.   His wit, his smile, his good nature - all taken from us all. I had the pleasure of being a friend and co-worker of Jonathan's.  The world has lost one of the "good-hearted" people in our midst.  We will miss Jonathan's brilliant wit and great sense of humor.  Many of my memories of Jonathan are work related.  He could tame the most irate customer with words of honey and his incredible powers of articulation and instilled them with confidence.  Jonathan had a very sharp mind.  He was able to dissect very difficult technical problems and make them look easy.  He also had infinite patience.  But work aside, we'll all miss Jonathan because he was a loving, caring, very special person.

It wasn't until very recently did I have the pleasure of working with Jonathan on a support issue.  He was so helpful, positive and driven that I wanted to adopt him and make him our point person for the Workstation Mail team.  Jonathan will be greatly missed by all that knew him! Jonathan had a great heart.  There is nothing he wouldn't do for his friends and coworkers.  He was intelligent, resourceful and never gave up... his motto was "there just has to be a way to do this". I am so sorry to hear of Jonathan's passing.  I was the hiring manager for Jonathan when he came to IBM. He was a wonderful person and employee and he will be sorely missed.

My husband Matt and I worked with Jonathan at IBM. We will miss his wonderful humor, his amazing intellect and his always cheerful disposition. Matt and I both remember occasions where we walked passed Jonathan in the parking lot at IBM and he would always stop and ask about our children and how he always took the time to listen to our stories about them.  I personally remember when I would get stuck on a particularly tough technical issue at work Jonathan would always be willing to stop whatever he was doing at the time and help me out. Matt and I both remarked how we remember very few coversations with Jonathan in which we didn't come away lauging.  He was very funny.  Matt and I feel honored to have known Jonathan and fortunate to have these and many more wonderful memories of him. Our family will remember him and his family and friends in our prayers.
