

Joe, the youngest of 13 children, was born to Monroe and Lydia (Heinrich) Buxkemper on April 19, 1964 in Mercy Hospital in Slaton. He graduated from Southland High School in 1982. Joe worked for United Supermarkets and Potato Specialty before a car accident in May 1989 changed his life. Joe was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him.
As a graduate of Austin Community College with an Associate Degree in small business management, Joe brought dedication and passion to every endeavor. For 15 years Joe devoted himself to working with children, leaving an indelible impact on countless young lives. His compassion, patience and committed support enriched the lives of those he served. Joe found joy in cheering on his beloved Texas Tech football team, his enthusiasm for the game evident to all who knew him. He found solace and joy in his love for old cars and muscle cars, appreciating their beauty and craftmanship.
Joe's unwavering faith in God sustained him through life's trials and his resilience in overcoming adversity was a testament to his strength of character. Above all, Joe will be remembered for his kind heart, steadfast faith and his ability to find joy in life's simple pleasures. He leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance and faith that will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joe is survived by his cherished wife, Nelly Buxkemper, and son, Brodie Morales of Austin. Also his brothers, Roger (Brenda Martin) of Lockhart, Leslie (Melissa) of Slaton, Steve of Ransom Canyon, Jr (Jackye Neal) of Slaton; his sisters, Nancy Polk of Slaton, Shirley Dodson (Richard Len) of Runaway Bay, Joyce Gamble (led Daw-son) of Horseshoe Bay, Arlene Becker (Larry) of Wimberley, Mary (Terry) Bradford of Clo-vis, N.M., and Elaine (Joel) Smith of Slaton, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Carol Greenhill and Connie Paul.
A celebration of life for Joseph will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park 6300 W William Cannon Dr. Austin TX 78749.
