

Joshua graduated from Mary Carroll High School in June 2008, and he was engaged to Angela Trevino. Joshua worked at Ruiz Salon as a cutting specialist. He was a member of ATX United Men’s Soccer League and Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Joshua was an accomplished soccer player. He started playing at the age of 4, and he continued all the way through high school. He also participated in Future Farmers of America his junior and senior year at Mary Carroll High School. He was a devoted Altar Server, together with Brother John Michael, for five years at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. Joshua served as a Forward for ATX United Men’s Soccer League, and scored goals for two plus years. Joshua had a passion for soccer, cycling, and the ocean.
He is survived by his fiancée Angela Trevino, his new born daughter Mia Illayna Villarreal, parents Ismael (Mike) and Annette Villarreal, brothers John Michael (Christina) Villarreal and David Allen Villarreal, sister Tammie Villarreal and her daughters Lauren and Makayla, niece Emma Villarreal, nephew John Anthony Villarreal, maternal grandmother Emma S. Garza, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is predeceased by his brother Michael Jay Villarreal, maternal grandfather Hipolito H. Garza, and his paternal grandparents Eulalio and Elida Garza Villarreal.
The family wants to give a special thank you to the owners and employees of Ruiz Salon, ATX United Men’s Soccer League of Austin, Texas, the doctors and staff at Texas Oncology, and the medical staff at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center who cared for Joshua.
Corrine Kimbro of Ruiz Salon kindly said of Joshua, “He had an open and light heart. He had a gift of laughter. He never took himself too seriously. He was a talented hair dresser, strong athlete, and a soccer player. He would walk into a room and light it up. He didn’t let negative energy in. He was an easy friend. He was LOVED. It will be no surprise the number of lives he has touched. Please come support those who are still here and honor Josh’s beautiful soul.”
A rosary and memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2016 at 2:00pm at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752.
A funeral mass will be held at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. The date will be announced at a later date.
