Joshuah Michael Sorenson, 31, of Austin, Texas unexpectedly died at his home on January 22, 2017 due to complications with Diabetes. Josh was the son of Dennis and Lisa Sorenson and was born on November 29, 1985, in Anchorage, Alaska.
Josh graduated from high school in Marquette Michigan where he had relocated in order to follow his love of hockey. He was very fortunate to have played on many successful teams in his career and finished out his playing time by winning the National Jr. A title with the Texas Tornados in 2005.
Hockey brought Josh to Texas but his friendships and love for his uncle kept him there. He had an amazing relationship with his Uncle Leo (Sean) and followed his footsteps in to the Aviation Field. That allowed Josh to travel all over the world where he forged unforgettable friendships. He had more stories and adventures in his short life than most people do in an entire lifetime. Josh was a friend to many and a stranger to none. He had a gift of gab and an infectious personality. He was born with a smile on his face that never seemed to leave.
If anyone was ever going to Austin they knew they could call Josh and he would drop everything to make sure they were taken care of. He lived life to the fullest and he did it his way. We truly lost a gift.
Josh is survived by his parents Dennis and Lisa Sorenson of Alaska, his sisters Natasha (Jason Flores) and Taylor Sorenson of Alaska, Brothers Corey and Kyle (Stephanie) of Washington and Tanner Sorenson of Michigan, Niece and Nephew, Eliana and Zaiden Flores of Alaska, Uncle Sean Leo Nadeau (Mary) of Texas. Aunt Loah McCoy (Jay) of Alaska and Mary Gasperlin of Arizona, Grandmother Rosalie Nadeau (Chuck Stewart) of Alaska and Grandfather Lonnie Leavell (Charmy) of Idaho, as well as numerous cousins.
A Celebration of life will be held in Austin Texas January 27, 2017 from 6 - 10 PM at the Rock Rose Hall, 11420 Rock Rose #100b. A Celebration of life will be held in Anchorage Alaska on Monday Feb. 6, 2017 from 7 -10 PM at Fox Hollow Golf Course Chalet 11801 Brayton Dr.
Please bring your stories to share and celebrate life as that is what Josh would have wanted
