Joyce Kelso Altum

Joyce Kelso Altum, age 73 died Sunday, May 30, 2010 in her home in Taylor, Texas. She was born in Caldwell County, Texas on June 15, 1936. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Altum; and one stepdaughter. Joyce is survived by her brother, Hilmer Kelso of Taylor Texas; her sister, Agnes Duncan of Colquitt, Georgia; two stepdaughters; numerous grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Joyce was a retired state employee. She worked at the Austin State Hospital and Texas School for the Deaf for many years. After the death of her husband Walter, Joyce moved from her home in Austin, Texas to her hometown, Taylor, Texas where she was very active in the community. She was a member of the Taylor Lions Club and Taylor Chamber of Commerce.

Joyce loved to cook and was always willing to help and serve others. She was friendly and never met a stranger. She will always be missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, June 4, 2010 Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Norwood, Ronnie Norwood Jr., Lonnie Guthrie, Adam Guthrie, Curtis Guthrie, Roy Simpson Jr.
