Joyce, affectionately called Bobbie, was born on July 24, 1930 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to Gene and Velma Greenwood. The family left Oklahoma when she was 3 months old and moved to Texas where she lived out her life. She was the second of three children, with a brother, Buddy, and sister, Mary, who both predeceased her. Joyce graduated from Austin High School in 1947 at age 16 and attended the University of Texas for one year. She and Smokey married on December 29, 1951 and celebrated 55 years of marriage. She worked as a secretary for a few years but then stayed home to raise her family. Joyce was a wonderful wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, C.G. Smokey Jackson of Temple, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and John Kyser, of Florence, and son and daughter-in-law Jeff and DLynda Jackson of Temple. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Leslie (Todd) Sager of Georgetown, John (Adriane) Kyser of Plano, Aaron Jackson, Peter (Courtney) Jackson, Karis Jackson, Jared Jackson and KAnna Jackson, all of the Temple/Belton area. Also surviving her are four great-grandchildren, Caden Kyser, of Plano, Texas, and the Sager girls, Ryann, Delaney and Merritt, of Georgetown. She visited with all the great-grandchildren the last few days of her life. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy. She is also survived by two nephews and two nieces. Most of you know that Joyce spent the last 3 years and 8 months of her life in the Weston Inn Health Center in Temple. She had many health issues during this time and was absolutely ready to go home to Jesus. Death came very peacefully at 12:10 on Saturday afternoon with her husband and children at her bedside. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2007 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
