She had been a long time resident of New Orleans, Louisiana and had worked as a teacher in private schools for over 50 years. She moved to Austin in 2006 after Katrina.
She is survived by her husband, Kurt D. Steiner of Austin; her son, Dr. Rodney Steiner and his wife, Jane, of New Orleans, Louisiana; her daughter, Marci Dell of Austin; her son-in-law, Steven Dell of Austin; her sister, Carol Cohn and her husband, Morley, of Altoona, Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren, Jason, Rachel, Kevin, Sydney, Jordan, Madeline, Olivia and Jacob.
Gravesides services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 24th of August 2011, at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
