Juana Hernandez

Juana Hernandez, age 78, passed away on August 23, 2026. She was born November 1, 1947 in Saltillo, Coahuila Mexico to the late Francisco Saucedo and Herminia Ramos. After leaving Saltillo, Juana moved to Laredo, Mexico and eventually settled in Austin, TX where she grew her family.

Juana had an innate will to enjoy life and was not slowed down by hardships or health complications. She was always ready to hit the road and never turned down an invitation to adventure. When at home, she put her energy into constantly redecorating the furniture in her home, knitting scarves and blankets for loved ones, or sitting down to watch her favorite sci-fi movies and telenovelas.

As the matriarch, Juana took pride in keeping her home as the place for everyone to gather. She wholeheartedly supported and trusted her husband which gave him confidence and peace. To her children, she showed patience and built individual relationships with them that grew and evolved as they did.

Everyone who met Juana felt her love and acceptance. Her door was always open and she intentionally positioned her chair with a view of the walk up to greet everyone with a smile as they walked in. And, no one felt her love more than her grandchildren. Juana never denied any of their silly requests to repeat a joke over and over, take a funny selfie, or do a little dance.

Juana’s family will carry on her strength, perseverance, joy, and love of family that she modeled until her last breath.

In addition to her parents, Juana was preceded in death by her siblings Jacinta Padilla Saucedo, Lorenzo Saucedo Ramos, and Jesus Saucedo Ramos.

Juana is survived by her partner and husband of 44 years, Pedro Hernandez, and her siblings Antonia Leza Saucedo and Simon Ramos Saucedo. She leaves her 7 children: Cristina Coy, Maria Vara (Jose Vara), Juan Arias (Lourdes Arias), Santiago Arias (Esmeralda Arias), Aida Hernandez (James Marshall), Elizabeth Demps (Romel Demps), and Maritza Hernandez. Juana will also be missed by her 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Juana tenía una pasión de disfrutar de la vida. No dejaba que ninguna adversidad ni un problema de salud la parara. Ella siempre estaba lista para agarrar calle y jamás rechazaba una invitación. Cuando estaba en casa, ella dedicaba su energía a redecorar el mobiliario, a tejer bufandas y mantas para sus seres queridos, o a sentarse a ver sus películas favoritas de ciencia ficción y sus telenovelas.

Como la matriarca, a Juana le daba orgullo mantener su hogar para 0reunir a todos. Ella apoyaba y confiaba ciegamente en su esposo lo que a él le dio seguridad y paz. A sus hijos les demostró paciencia y cultivó relaciones individuales con cada uno.

Todos los que conocían a Juana sentían su amor y su aceptación. Su puerta siempre estaba abierta y colocaba su silla frente al camino de la entrada para recibir a todos con una sonrisa al llegar. Nadie sentía su amor más que sus nietos. Juana nunca les negaba las ocurrencias de sus nietos ya fuera repetir un chiste una y otra vez, tomarse selfies divertidos, o bailar.

La familia de Juana mantendrá vivo el legado y las virtudes de su fortaleza, perseverancia, alegría, y amor por la familia que ella les enseñó hasta su último aliento.

A Juana le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, hermana Jacinta Padilla Saucedo, y hermanos Lorenzo Saucedo Ramos y Jesus Saucedo Ramos.

A Juana le sobreviven su pareja y esposo de 44 años, Pedro Hernandez, su hermana Antonia Leza Saucedo, y su hermano Simon Ramos Saucedo. Deja a sus 7 hijos: Cristina Coy, Maria Vara (Jose Vara), Juan Arias (Lourdes Arias), Santiago Arias (Esmeralda Arias), Aida Hernandez (James Marshall), Elizabeth Demps (Romel Demps), y Maritza Hernandez. Sus 15 nietos y 14 bisnietos también extrañarán a Juana.
