Juanita S. Collins Juanita Stuart Collins (Mimmie as known by her family, Nita as known by her friends) died peacefully at the age of 96 in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 9, 2004 at home in Rollingwood. Juanita was born in Marlin, Texas on January 24th 1908, the daughter of Walter and Camilla Stuart. She married Albert Collins in 1931 and lived in Cameron, Texas for most of her life. In 2000 she moved to Austin to live with her only daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Ronald Hudson. She has three adoring grandsons-Stuart, Alan, and Paul Hudson, and two granddaughters-in-law, Toni and Joan Hudson. Mimmie was the great grandmother of eight loving great grandchildren-Rachel, Hunter, James, Kyle, Cara, Collin, Cameron, and Janie Hudson. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Walter Stuart, and loving husband. Nita was a pillar of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Cameron where she was very active for 67 years. A beautiful garden on the grounds of the church was named in her honor in 1999, as she had faithfully served the Alter Guild for 50 years. She was educated at Trinity University in Waxahachie. Before her marriage to Albert, she kept books for the Ford dealership in Marlin. During World War II she worked as an accountant for the Cameron Fruit Company. She was a member of the Central Texas Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She also volunteered at the Christian Services Thrift Shop and the Milam County Historical Museum. Mimmie was an excellent seamstress and cook, and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She traveled widely with Albert and her friends. Mimmie was loved and respected by all the family and many friends over the years. She greatly enjoyed the frequent visits of her great grandchildren. I loved Mimmie with all of my heart and I will never forget her says Hunter Hudson (age 10). To know Mimmie was to love her and I know everyone who has ever met her agrees. She was one of those people that you were drawn to and loved very much, no matter what. Rachel Hudson (age 12) A close friend recently sent this quote to Martha and she thought it was appropriate for her mothers life. The author is unknown to us. Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and proclaiming WOW, what a ride! Services will be on Wednesday, May 12 at Weed-Corley Fish Chapel at 3125 North Lamar at 10:00 AM and All Saints Episcopal Church at 200 North Travis Street in Cameron at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Girling Hospice at P.O. Box 4294 Austin, TX 78756 or All Saints Episcopal Church at P.O. Box 510, Cameron, Texas 76520. Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, TX 78705 - (512) 452-8811. You may view memorials online at wcfish.com
