Judith Alpern Dodds passed from this life on April 8, 2020. She was 68. Judith was born Judith Alpern to parents Abraham and Rhoda Alpern on March 21, 1952 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Her family moved to the Orange county California area when she was 8 and she had a wonderful childhood with innumerable trips to Disneyland and the beach.
Judith received her BA degree in drawing and painting from Cal State Fullerton. Through the years, she held numerous inside sales positions but her real passion was always art and she leaves her family with hundreds of beautiful paintings. Judith was a vegetarian and a friend to all animals be it cat, dog, raccoon, possum, or squirrel. She has maintained a bird feeder and bird bath at her home for many, many years.
Judith came to Austin, Texas in 1990 where she met Donald Dodds. Judith and Donald were married on December 12, 1998. In 2001, Donald and Judith traveled to Siberia Russia where they adopted 21-month old Aleksei and 10-month old Katia. In 2010, Donald and Judith began foster care for 8-year old Angelina and 5-year old Joshua and they adopted those two children in 2011.
Judith is survived by her husband Donald Dodds, her four children Aleksei Dodds, Katia Dodds, Angelina Dodds, and Joshua Dodds, her mother Rhoda Alpern, 3 sisters Jodine Alpern, Illisa Wolf, and Amy Alpern, one brother Aryeh Alpern, and 4 nieces and 3 nephews. Last but not least, Judith is survived by her three beloved dogs.
A private viewing and burial will be held on Thursday, April 16 coordinated by Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home. Judith will be sorely missed by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace with God.
