“You now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.”
— John 16:22
There are some lights that never go out—because they were never meant to. Judy Ann Golston’s light was one of them. On October 24, 2025, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by her family and the peace of God’s presence, Judy stepped out of time and into eternity.
Born in Taylor, Texas, on October 21, 1956, Judy lived her life as a reflection of grace. She had a gift for loving people the way Christ loves—without condition, without hesitation, and without limit. If you were hungry, she’d feed you. If you were hurting, she’d pray with you until the tears turned into peace. Her home was a sanctuary, her table a gathering place, and her heart a well that never ran dry.
Her faith was not a quiet one—it was alive, loud, and unshakable. As a proud Deaconess of Horizon Worship Center, Judy served with both hands and all her heart. But her ministry reached far beyond the church walls. It was found in every person she comforted, every child she encouraged, and every soul she reminded that God’s love never fails.
Judy’s greatest joy was her family—the people she called her life’s blessing. She is remembered with unending love by her husband, Ardis Golston; her children, Monica Saunders (Kevin Saunders), Damien Williams, Jasmine Golston, and Britney Golston (Sebastian Burton); and her step-son, Chad Woulard.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brianna Saunders, Jalen Lopez, Damien Williams Jr., Myah Burton, Mariah Burton, Michael Burton, Matthew Burton, and Darron Reece III; and her great-grandchildren: Camryn Winfrey and Kei'Moni Chappell—each carrying a piece of her joy and her faith.
She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Angela Clark, Floyce Jackson, Larry Jackson, Billie Ray Jackson, Edyie Wilkins, Harry Jackson and Mary Siler.
Awaiting her in glory are her siblings Peggy Hall, Roy Jackson, and Marvin Jackson Sr., and her dear parents, Clara “Lucy” Wilson and William Harris.
Those who knew Judy will tell you—she laughed with her whole soul. Her laughter could turn an ordinary moment into something holy. Her prayers had weight; they didn’t just rise—they moved things.
Her family and friends find comfort in knowing she is now resting in the arms of the Savior she loved so deeply. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we rejoice in her eternal home, where sorrow is no more, and joy never ends.
Well done, good and faithful servant
