Karen grew up and went to school in Baytown, Texas and then went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and eventually her Master’s in Education from Southwest Texas State University.
Karen enjoyed many years in Austin, she was a teacher at Molly Dawson Elementary, where she taught for over 30 years. She cherished the many great memories she had with her friends and colleagues that she taught with over the years. A special memory for Karen was when the Dawson teachers were invited to the White House to attend a dinner reception hosted by Laura Bush whom also had taught at Dawson.
Karen is survived by her husband, Ben Hobbs; her son, Jeff Beal; and her mother, Kathryn Hart Wood; as well as her stepchildren, Adam, Allen, Clarissa, and Rodger Hobbs.
Karen is in a much better place, please remember and celebrate her life.
