Katherine C. Johnson

Katherine Colemere McKie Johnson passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011, in Austin, Texas. Katherine was born on June 5, 1926 in Houston, Texas to Hollis and Elizabeth Colemere, as the youngest of three children. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1944 the attended Incarnate Word College in San Antonio.

She met and married J.D. McKie in 1945. They had three children, Thomas Ryan, Linda Katherine and Lisbeth Alberta (Libby).

After raising here children in San Antonio and Austin, she and J.D. divorced. She married H.C. “Johnny” Johnson in 1972 and they have enjoyed the last thirty nine years together in Austin.

Katherine was very active in the community and her church. She was a member of the Violet Crown Garden Club (The Optimistic Gardeners). She enjoyed volunteering at local nursing homes and always doing things for others.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Johnson, of Austin; son, Tommy McKie, and his wife, Larisa, of Edmond, OK; daughter, Linda Sheehy of Tyler; daughter, Libby Bergstrom, of Austin; four grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 14th of December 2011, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Inurnment services will be held in San Antonio at a later date.

In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
