A native Austinite, Katherine P. Mendoza was called home by her maker on August 17, 2010, due to complications following a prolonged bout with Alzheimer’s. Born October 6, 1924, she is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Nellie H. Pineda, five brothers, and two sisters.
A devoted mother, Katherine epitomized the essence of perseverance, honesty, trustworthiness, and all the fine qualities so important in one’s life. In doing so, she successfully provided for her daughter’s welfare and education through her exemplary work within the domestic field, often working seven days a week non-stop. Through such self-imposed standards, Katherine set the example for her family on the value of an honest day’s work and the importance of performing a job of any kind with the profoundest pride.
The grandmother of three grandchildren, her unceasing love and generosity enveloped them with indescribable warmth and happiness that undoubtedly will be eternally remembered. There is comfort though in her family’s faith that she is resting in peace in the loving arms of the Lord.
Katherine is survived by her daughter, Juanita K. Ledesma; son-in-law, Nick R. Ledesma; granddaughter, Michelle R. Ledesma; two great granddaughters, Catherine Renee Ledesma and Ashley-Nicole Renee Ledesma; and one great grandson, Travis René Ledesma.
Funeral services will be conducted by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2010. Burial will take place at Austin Memorial Park at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2010.
