

Kay was born in Tokyo, Japan January 11, 1924. She graduated from Tokyo Women's Economics College and started a career in journalism. She wrote many articles about the rapidly changing face of Japan after World War II. In 1948, she began working for the U.S Air Force, Far East Air Material Command, as a Cost Accountant in the office of the Comptroller.
During this time she met her future husband Johnnie. They were married in 1953 and moved to Texas. She had two children; daughter, Anne and son, Mitchell. While Kay and Johnnie were stationed in Great Falls, Montana, they were charter members instrumental in starting the Belt Mountain Baptist Church. From 1968 to 1983 she was a Data Transcriber for the IRS.
Kay was a very talented person. She was a certified Ikebana flower designer and dressmaker. She enjoyed oil painting and Japanese calligraphy. But most of all she enjoyed reading. She was also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Johnnie; daughter, Anne; son-in-law, Frank Liberato; grandsons, Austin and Reid; and by her son, Mitchell of Austin Texas.
Kay was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was greatly loved and will be terribly missed by all.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
