Kenneth Irvin Thompson born May 1st, 1953 in Houston, TX passed peacefully at home in Austin, TX on Sunday, August 2nd, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Hayes Thompson, sister Karen Thompson Brumley, son William Thompson and daughter Teresa Thompson.
As a youth he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and competed in numerous UIL musical competitions. He then went on to perform for 7 years in the Army band where he was honorably discharged with the rank of SSG. From there he joined the Corp. of Cadets at Texas A&M University while he earned a BS in Industrial Engineering.
Almost 30 years later having retired from the USPS, he spent a majority of his free time travelling with his wife Mary or working in his garden. This left plenty of time for his other hobbies, mainly fishing, but he also was an avid reader and film enthusiast.
Ken, we hope you catch the one that got away on your final fishing trip.
