Kevin James Burks was born on April 17, 1959, to Marg and L.J. Burks in Austin, Texas. A true Austinite through and through, he proudly graduated from McCallum High School, Concordia College, and The University of Texas, remaining a lifelong Longhorn — a loyalty lovingly tested by his daughter’s A&M degree.
Kevin grew up immersed in his parents’ printing business, where he developed his deep appreciation for hard work, innovation, and people. In 2012, he took the reins and successfully transformed the family business into a thriving digital print and equipment company, carrying forward his family’s legacy with vision and heart.
Kevin possessed many gifts; his presence truly blessed those fortunate enough to have known him. Whether you played golf alongside him, shared a trip or vacation, felt his generosity, worked with him, or were simply swept up in one of his countless stories, your life was richer because of him.
He was the unwavering rock for his wife, Joanne, and the guiding light and proudest supporter of his beloved children, Alex and Kevin Jr. When he wasn’t devoted to his family, he could be found cheering on his fraternity brothers, enjoying time with his golf buddies, and River Place friends, or offering encouragement to his employees and everyone who crossed his path.
Kevin loved life in all its moments. He found joy in his farm with the cattle, in projects at the lake house where he could tinker as the resident handyman, and most recently at Joanne and Kevin’s Ranch, a place that brought him deep happiness and peace. He fished, golfed, hunted — and occasionally got into a little mischief — often alongside the friends and family who loved him most.
If you were part of Kevin’s life, you saw a man who truly embodied love, kindness, compassion, and generosity. He was full of laughter and light, and he would want each of us to live fully, joyfully, and without regret — just as he did.
Kevin is survived by the love of his life, Joanne, his devoted wife of 40 years; his pride and joy, Alex (Brian) and Kevin Jr. (Taylor); and his faithful companions Sam, Colt, Poof, Mr. T, and Winnie. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Mike, and his wife, Judy; nephew and niece, Bradley and Avery; Aunt Connie; numerous cousins, his treasured Riverplace crew; devoted colleagues; BK fraternity brothers; and countless extraordinary friends, both near and far. A special thank you to Liliana, whose compassion, care, and respect brought peace and comfort to Kevin and our family. Your kindness and strength were a true gift, and we will forever be grateful.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, L.J. Burks (2015), and his mother, Marg (2023)
