Kevin Gerard Knecht, 48, of Austin, went to be with the Lord of his life on Sunday, November 27, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 14, 1963 in Temple, Texas to William J. Knecht and Teresa A. Gruntmeir Knecht. Kevin was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple, graduated from Temple High School in 1981, and attended Texas State University. He worked 18 years at Service Merchandise and 12 years at Old Navy.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be sadly missed by his sisters, Nancy Urbantke and husband Ernie, Cynthia Horton and husband Walter, and Karen Robeson and husband James; his brothers, Richard Knecht and wife Marie, Nicholas Knecht and wife Sandy, Keith Knecht and wife Holly, and Kelly Knecht and wife Donna; 7 nieces; 4 nephews; 7 great-nieces; 1 great-nephew; 1 great-great-nephew; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends. Kevin is also survived by “the best friends he ever had”, Perry Lloyd Smith and Mark Serrano.
Celebration of Kevin’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made in Kevin’s memory to a charity of choice.
