Kitty Hays, age 54, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in Austin, Texas, after a long struggle with hepatitis and cancer. Kitty was born March 30, 1953, in Odessa, Texas to Gloria Justin Hays and Ben Hays. She attended and graduated from Paschal High School, Fort Worth, Texas. She later made her home in Austin, attended Austin Community College, and worked as a counselor for Greater Austin Council for Alcohol and Drugs. Kitty had generosity of spirit and will be missed by family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father and sister Nancy Rains. Survivors include her mother Gloria Justin Hays, Fort Worth; brother Dan Hays, Fort Worth; sister Susan Vassar, Austin; and five nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008, in the First United Methodist Church Chapel, 800 W. 5th Street, Fort Worth, Texas at 3:30 p.m. Visitation follows in the Wesley Hall. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity.
