Kyle was born on November 24, 1992, at St Davids Hospital in Austin, TX. His early years were spent living in Baytown, and Galveston, TX where he and his mom lived with his grandparents, Joel and Laura-Ann Marsalis for a short time. He lived the remainder of his life in the Round Rock and Austin community, attending Patton Elementary, Fern Bluff Elementary, Chisholm Trail Middle School, Clint Small Jr Middle School and Austin High School. He earned his high school diploma in 2011 and planned to start college in the future.
Some of Kyle's favorite memories with his grandparents include riding in the car with his "Papa" jamming to oldies tunes while his granddad drove a little crazy. Kyle also enjoyed spending hours on end playing Yahtzee, Aggrevation and Monopoly with them and especially enjoyed playing old school video games with his "Nana". Kyle spent his last week with his grandparents doing just these things.
Kyle and his mom moved back to Austin while he was still young and he loved spending time with his great grandmother Marie Marshall who lived close by. Kyle spent time just talking and hanging out with her. He especially loved Christmas time with "Grammo" helping her decorate her Christmas tree, setting up her annual Christmas village and searching for the "Christmas Pickle" she always hides in the tree. Kyle especially loved being spoiled by her and eating special treats while visiting with her.
Kyle spent much of his childhood with his aunt and uncle Charlene and Chris Breth. Kyle enjoyed going on trips with them and spending time being silly and crazy and doing things his mom would never let him do! :-) After his cousin Anastacia Marie arrived, Kyle enjoyed teasing her and really enjoyed the fact that he got to spend some time with her while he was at his grandparents recently.
Kyle grew up around his aunt and uncle Cindy and Billy Smith along with their children John Earl, Hilary, and Emily. One of his favorite memories with them was our trip to Disney World in 2007. Kyle was at his goofiest and funniest best on this trip, having fun with everyone and making them laugh. He especially had fun pushing his Grammo around in her wheelchair during a rainstorm, causing everyone else to panic that they were both going to crash.
Kyle went through many phases throughout his high school years, going from the preppy young freshman to the reggae loving senior and just about everything else in between. His musical tastes are eclectic to say the least including everything from country, rock and rap to dubstep and reggae. Kyle was a good friend to many and took time to reach out and support those he cared for. Kyle's passion for life and his mother and sister were apparent to all and serve as a loving reminder to all to live each day to the fullest.
Kyle touched many lives and has many extended family members and friends too numerous to list. From a young age Kyle had the ability to make people laugh and smile with his sweet and goofy smiles and silly antics. Kyle was an excellent debater and loved arguing a point with someone even if he didn't truly believe it just to have an interesting conversation. Kyle will always be fondly remembered and his memory and spirit will be carried in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
Kyle loved his sister Jordan with all his heart and soul. Even with the almost 10 years difference in their age Kyle managed to fit in plenty of brotherly teasing and sibling antics with his sister. One of the funniest examples of this was when his sister was around five and Kyle laid out multiple items ranging from a golf ball to a flashlight and talked Jordan into bonking her head with each item to see if she'd do it! The result of this experiment was a very funny video of Jordan saying ouch and Kyle laughing. Despite the jokes and normal sibling bickering, Kyle was a protective and loving older brother who always looked out for her and would do anything to protect her and keep her safe.
Kyle was his mom's "Little Man" from the beginning and they had many fun and loving times together. They enjoyed listening to music and playing video games together even after Kyle became a pro at a very young age and never let her win a game after that point! Kyle was silly and goofy and always made life interesting for the two of them. Through all the ups and downs of life and Kyle's struggles with addiction the two always shared a special bond and never left each other without saying I love you. They were blessed to spend Kyle's last day together, singing some of his favorite songs, sharing memories about their close-knit little family and just enjoying the day. Their day ended with a long heart-felt hug, hope for the future and as always "I love you".
You are so very loved and missed Kyle James!
I love you my precious boy.
Be at peace and know how much Jordan and I love you Bubba!
Some special words from Kyle's friends:
Kyle you always had this happy glow,
Even when times were so sad,
Or through addictions ups and downs,
I still saw it.
No one else has it.
No one ever will.
That glow made my days easier,
And I know I'm not the only one.
You could put a smile on anyone's frown.
We all miss you and hope you have found peace.
It hurts so much that you're gone
This seems so wrong
We can only know your in a better place
But it just wasn't a race
And you went way too soon
Leaving us with our gloom
Our souls releasing endless love
To you up above
Forever holding you in our hearts
And in a deeper reality
We are not apart ♥
I woke up this morning with a sad heart...I can't believe ur gone bro..I have mad love for you and know in the deepest part of my heart that ur in a better place...Rest in peace homie...much love
