L. O. Blondie Pogue

L. O. Pogue, 74, from Bertram, Texas, passed away Monday, September 14th. He was born on July 5, 1941, and his family always enjoyed celebrating his birthday over July 4th with food and fireworks. He attended Palm School in Austin, West End in Taylor, & McCallum High School.

He later joined the Army & served in the United States & Germany. Upon returning home L.O. married Martha Davidson on November 4, 1961. Over their 54 years of marriage, they were blessed with three boys- Terry Glen Pogue, Louis Randall Pogue (Randy), & Chris Wayne Pogue.

L.O. always provided for his family. He was the owner of Lone Star Environmental, Air Masters and All Austin Air in Austin. Upon selling his business he moved to Bertram in 2000 and later opened Bertram Dry Cleaners. He enjoyed providing a laundry service to Bertram when there was none. He also served his community in many ways such as Alderman & Mayor Pro-Tem on the Bertram City Council to name a few.

For the past five years, L.O. was a member of First Baptist Church- Georgetown. He had many friends and enjoyed the fellowship at the church. He loved Larry Maddox’s Sunday school class and passing the offering plate in the services.

Aside from church, L.O.'s home was his haven. He loved animals and enjoyed his many goats, dogs, and horses through the years on his acreage in Bertram. He loved the outdoors- mowing his pasture and making his place look like a park.

L.O. was preceded in death by his father, Louis Olle Pogue, and his son, Chris Wayne Pogue. He is survived by his mother, Helen Pogue, wife Martha Pogue, sons Terry Glen Pogue, Louis Randall Pogue (Randy) wife Kami Pogue and grandsons Cole Elliott, Blake Elliott, & Chance Pogue.

Join us to celebrate L.O.’s life on Thursday, September 17th at 1pm at Cook- Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N Lamar Blvd Austin, TX. Burial will follow the service at Austin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers L.O. wished memorials be given to the American Heart Association.
